We offer both a major and a minor in German. Our German program consists of a vibrant mix of literature, language and culture studies.
We offer many enriching cultural opportunities while in Lexington and more still when students study abroad in our programs in Vienna and Graz, Austria and Berlin and Bayreuth, Germany. Our department also provides vital scholarships, awards, and funding for study abroad and mentoring, and support for applications to prestigious programs such as the Fulbright research and teaching assistantship programs and the Austrian teaching USTA program, as well as the opportunity to compete for career enhancing business internships and laboratory internships in STEM fields. Recent graduates are pursuing M.A. and Ph.D. programs in fields as varied as religion, medicine, nuclear physics, environmental sciences and sustainability both in the U.S. and Germany, and enjoying exciting and varied careers in areas such as international commerce, finance, law, and teaching.
